I'm not sure what the costs are compared with others because that's something that is determined/learned more towards the end of the process. I had an idea of what my lender was on par because my brother got a loan with them the year before.
Interest Rate
I checked with about 8 different places and my interest rate is much lower than anything I was able to find at other institutions.
Loan Officer Service
He was great to work with. He knew my parents for years and years, so I had a little relationship with him before I applied for the loan. He was a touch hard to reach a few times but overall was a good experience.

Pros
When it comes down to it, the interest rate is really the largest thing to factor in and I know mine was the lowest in our area, which will save me thousands of dollars over the course of 30 years.
Cons
They have a really poor online portal to help look, change, and review my current loan, rates, amortization schedules, etc. I'd really like an upgrade to the different things I can see and do with my individual loan.
