Closing Fee
Our closing costs were just under $10,000. That is what I was told to expect, and I get the feeling that is normal for most companies, especially when we bought a large and expensive house.

Interest Rate
I think we have a good rate. It is 3.6, and that is better than other lenders. I say this because I have seen other lenders recently offer mortgages of 4% of 3.8 at the lowest.

Loan Officer Service
He knew what he was doing but at times it was difficult for us to get in contact with him. He also didn't always let me know when he received our paperwork, and that was frustrating.

Overall Rating
Pros
I like that the institution has a good reputation and has been around for many years. I think we got a good rate and were treated fairly and respectfully. They have also offered to refinance our loan, but it isn't worth it at the moment.
Cons
I don't like that some of their staff is disorganized. They lost some of our paperwork and I had to send in the same files multiple times. That was frustrating and time-consuming.

Closing Fee
I think I got a fair cost on my loan. I believe I paid 1% of the loan amount but then I got a $500 discount at closing.

Interest Rate
I was able to lock in a 15 year at 2.75% a couple years ago before interest rates started to rise. It was good timing.

Loan Officer Service
I think he did fine. Once he got my loan in the system though it was handed off to underwriters so I never heard from him again.

Overall Rating
Pros
I like that they have a pretty nice website. I am able to easily get all the info I need on there and also pay principal at will
Cons
I guess that I don't like that there is not some branch close to me. I am sure these people are just out of new york.

Closing Fee
I remember that the fees were comparable to other lenders. I was motivated by the low rate.

Interest Rate
My mortgage interest rate is 2.625% I am very pleased with that rate. However, at that low rate on my 15-year mortgage. I'm not motivated to pay down my mortgage quickly to save money.

Loan Officer Service
The loan officer was only interested in pointing out that our loan closed quickly, My husband and I were both CPA's so we were able to provide up-front all documentation needed for the loan.

Overall Rating
Pros
The lending institution had an awesome rate, that's what drew me to get my mortgage there.
Cons
I disliked that the loan officer did not pay attention to my needs - a low-interest rate. So much so that when the loan was done and he asked us if there were any people we could give him to call to help them with their mortgage, we told him we would give him 10 names if he told us why we went with his bank. He said quick close, which was important to him, not us. He didn't get any referral names from us.

Closing Fee
Our fees and closing costs were pretty close to what our rep at the mortgage company said they would be. The only thing I wished was that our mortgage wasn't written off to another company immediately. I am not sure if that is how it works but I may have chosen another lender if I knew that would be the case.

Interest Rate
The interest rate is a little bit on the high side. My husband credit is good and clear with a score close to 800. We are Black (African-American), it was our first home purchase, and we are never late to pay anything, so it seemed a bit peculiar that we would have a higher interest rate. We are more concerned with it because we moved along with some of my husband's other coworkers who are white, have quite a bit of debt and even struggled to make their down payment, and they were able to get a mortgage with a lower interest rate. So, I am not very happy with our rate and hope to refinance to get a better one after we build a history of mortgage payments.

Loan Officer Service
He was very helpful in such a competitive and fast moving market. He called realtors during the bidding process to let them know we were approved with money on hand for our downpayment. That was a big influential factor since we had seen several homes come back on the market because of financing issues with buyers.

They told us exactly what they needed during the process. There was no confusion. Instructions were always clear.

Closing Fee
Our closing fees were basically the same as many other lenders. We were prepared for it and expected it to be what it was

Interest Rate
Our interest rate is fixed and at the time of the mortgage was one of the lower interest rates in our area. Even today- five years later- the rate is still considered to be good

Loan Officer Service
Sometimes he was difficult to get in touch with, and he lost our paperwork at times. But he understood the process and ultimately we got the mortgage, so it was good.

Overall Rating
Pros
I like that we could do a lot of the process online because my husband and I both had demanding jobs at the time and it was difficult to go somewhere in person. We also were happy that the rates were reasonable.
Cons
We were unhappy that we had to send in some paperwork numerous times because they kept misplacing it. We also sometimes found it difficult to get someone to answer our questions when we asked over e-mail or phone.
