In the beginning I was appalled with State Farm because the customer service reps at a particular agent's office in town were rude beyond belief. However, when I had to switch from Allstate because they cancelled everyone's earthquake insurance nationwide, I was lucky to find a different State Farm agent who was more responsive. I found, unfortunately, that the agent I found was responsive only until I signed up. After that I was handed off quite quickly to another person who was in customer service. Luckily, she turned out to be competent, intelligent and helpful. When she left our town and moved to another State Farm office 35 miles away, I sent my business with her. She is the only one I will talk to about anything regarding my policies.

In the beginning I was appalled with State Farm because the customer service reps at a particular agent's office in town were rude beyond belief. However, when I had to switch from Allstate because they cancelled everyone's earthquake insurance nationwide, I was lucky to find a different State Farm agent who was more responsive. I found, unfortunately, that the agent I found was responsive only until I signed up. After that I was handed off quite quickly to another person who was in customer service. Luckily, she turned out to be competent, intelligent and helpful. When she left our town and moved to another State Farm office 35 miles away, I sent my business with her. I receive a discount for also having auto through Progressive. With that in mind, my premium is 10% less than everyone else. Regardless, I have never had any problem in the 10 years I have had Progressive. I would stay with them even if the premiums were closer to other companies.
