I am not happy about the premium. They force you to cover your house for a ridiculous amount instead of what you want to cover it for. My house isonly worth 65,000 but they require me to cover my house for 180,000. I would like to cover my house for the balance of the mortgage and maybe a 20% down payment. That would be only be 90,000. All companies are like this. I have a deductible of 10% on hurricane so it 18,000 and a 1,000 dollar regular deductible.

I have never made a claim on my homeowner's insurance so I don't have much experience. After Hurricane Sandy, I had a tree leaning towards my house that I wanted to cut down and called them. Because of the high number of calls they were getting I was called back by a 'free-lance' adjuster a few days later who was in Georgia. He gave me solid advice but it was not a great way to provide customer service.
