I have never made a claim on my homeowner's insurance so I don't have much experience. After Hurricane Sandy, I had a tree leaning towards my house that I wanted to cut down and called them. Because of the high number of calls they were getting I was called back by a 'free-lance' adjuster a few days later who was in Georgia. He gave me solid advice but it was not a great way to provide customer service.

I don't think my insurance company has a mobile app or a website that is very user-friendly. It's not advertised or promoted if there is one.

Premium
Homeowners insurance is expensive wherever you go but New Jersey where I live seems to be higher than most places. I've never made a claim yet my premium goes up every year.

Communication
I think my biggest problem with the communication and customer service was that during a major storm they were not prepared to handle the volume of calls with their own staff. The adjuster I spoke to was knowledgeable in general but didn't seem to know much about my policy.
