I believe all insurance is astronomical. I personally have checked other companies but the ones my husband checked were similar for the amount of coverage we wanted and the fact that our home is located in a 100-year flood zone limits our options. It all too expensive. I personally believe the criteria these companies use are too broad when determining premiums, especially considering demographics.

The staff has always remained the same. There are three in my local office. They know me by the first name and always seem familiar with my coverage, family members, home, and vehicles. They always take the time to answer any of my questions and never are rude or act bothered. The also pay VERY quickly on a claim. All I have to do is get one estimate and they write me a check right then and there.

The premium has risen as a result of hurricanes in my state. I have not had any claims but I am responsible for reimbursing my insurance company for the cost of it's honoring claims. This company knew the possibility of hurricanes in this locale but choose to accept premiums from homeowners. But they whine and approach the State of Florida to get a rate hike when they have to pay out for claims. Somehow the picture of maintaining payment to stockholders is more important than managing the intake and outflow of premiums and claims

I was with usaa before switching to aaa. Their quote was around $3800 annually. It was similar coverage, but not exactly the same. I think usaa is a good company, but their premiums got too high when we moved here. I was already an aaa member, so i got a second quote from them. They were much cheaper. We had to file a claim this year for our roof, and they handled it very well. I also checked into amica, but their deductible at the time was higher. When i did that quote we still had the older roof, and they wanted a 2% deductible instead of 1%.

This was about the same price everywhere else. I was not able to get anything cheaper unless I bundled. That together is a bad idea. I like to keep things separate.

Customer Service
The initial customer service that I dealt with for the insurance company was a little rude as they were collecting the information. I called back later (tomorrow) and I got a better one who appeared to be more responsive and gave us more discounts than the other.

I had to call the company in order to find the answer to a question I had. I was unable to find the answer on the website, as it is not user-friendly, however, customer service was happy to help. I did not like the long recording when I called, however, when I finally got someone on the line, they were rather friendly.

When I quote this I'm always right in the same amount no matter where I go. I've had this company now for years and they seem to do a good job, however, I've never submitted a claim so I don't know how well they do there. They work with me, I had a lower quote once they matched it.
