Other than the mess when they somehow mixed up my policies and premiums, (and no one actually took care of the situation properly,) the standard communication is ideal. I only receive an email from Liberty Mutual when a car insurance premium is due, so that means twice a year. My home insurance is part of my escrow, so my mortgage company takes care of that.

I went with Liberty Mutual about two years ago because their premium was much lower when I bundled it with my car insurance. If I didn't have them bundled, the premium wouldn't be worth it, but right now I'm getting the best overall deal I have found. I saved about $200 a year by switching to Liberty Mutual when my previous company raised my rates.

When I first switched, I was very pleased. I was able to transition seamlessly and the agent kept in touch without bombarding me with calls. It was easy. However, after my first year, when my prices went up, I had to make frequent calls. Somehow, my car and home insurance became unbundled and the company was sending me separate and much higher bills. It took about 5 calls to get it right. Every time someone claimed to fix it, it wasn't actually fixed. I went ahead and paid the late fees that they had claimed to waive just to get it over with. Everything seems to be back to normal now.

I am not crazy about Liberty Mutual's website. Yes, I can get the information I need, but it is hard to get to. It takes several steps and multiple log-in attempts to get to the right section when I want to view my premium or pay my bill. I don't think it should be so hard to pay my bill. I don't believe they have a mobile app, but I wouldn't want to use one anyway.

So far after some shopping around it appears that a few providers have 20-35% lower premiums in home and auto. Not sure why it is that way but I may have to switch since there is no reason to have that high of insurance costs
