California homeowners pay $517 for AAA home insurance

In addition to its popularly known roadside assistance, the non-profit American Automobile Association (AAA) offers home, renters, auto, and life insurance. AAA’s average homeowners insurance rate is $517 per annum. AAA is owned by 42 clubs and customers can purchase homeowners insurance through these individual clubs depending on the states in which they are based.
California’s homeowners can avail home insurance from the following AAA clubs:
- AAA Northern California, Nevada and Utah (NCNU) offers AAA’s services in Northern California.
- Automobile Club of Southern California provides AAA services in Southern California and is one of the biggest AAA-affiliated clubs.
AAA NCNU offers their services in the following counties:
Alameda, Alpine, Amador, Butte, Calaveras, Colusa, Contra Costa, Del Norte, El Dorado, Fresno, Glenn, Humboldt, Kings, Lake, Lassen, Madera, Marin, Mariposa, Mendocino, Merced, Modoc, Monterey, Napa, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sacramento, San Benito, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus, Sutter, Tehama, Trinity, Tuolumne, Yolo, and Yuba.
Automobile Club of Southern California extends homeowners insurance in the following counties:
Inyo, Imperial, Kern, Los Angeles, Mono, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Tulare, and Ventura.
While it is not compulsory for homeowners to be a AAA member to avail of their homeowners insurance, members of the AAA auto club are given a 5% discount.
AAA mainly offers three types of memberships:
AAA offers a saving of as much as 25% through multi-policy discounts. The Automobile Club of Southern California offers a discount of as much as 20% on home insurance rates and about 12% on auto insurance rates if homeowners bundle both policies. These figures may vary for different AAA clubs.
Bundling AAA’s home, auto, and life insurance earns homeowners a discount of as much as 15% on their auto insurance rates.
